一、课文原文

Lesson73 The record-holder

Children who play truant from school are unimaginative. A quiet day's fishing, or eight hours in a cinema seeing the same film over and over again, is usually as far as they get. They have all been put to shame by a boy who, while playing truant, travelled 1600 miles. He hitchhiked to Dover and, towards evening, went into a boat to find somewhere to sleep. When he woke up next morning, he discovered that the boat had, in the meantime, travelled to Calais. No one noticed the boy as he crept off. From there, he hitchhiked to Paris in a lorry. The driver gave him a few biscuits and a cup of coffee and left him just outside the city. The next car the boy stopped did not take him into the centre of Paris as he hoped it would, but to Perpignan on the French-Spanish border. There he was picked up by a policeman and sent back to England by the local authorities. He has surely set up a record for the thousands of boys who dream of evading school.

二、要点句型或语法

本课首要是温习第1课、第25课和第49课所学的语句品种的内容,是依照语句规划来分的品种,即简略句、并排句、复合句。

(一)第1课

本课偏重学习的是简略句及其语序的内容。所谓简略句,是指只包括一个主谓规划的语句,该语句的各个成分都是由单词或短语构成的。如:

Last week I went to the theatre.

I always get up late on Sundays.

英语中的简略句一般包括五种根柢句型,即:

1、主谓型

即语句只包括主语和谓语,如:

The sun has set.

A tree fell down.

2、主谓宾型

即语句包括了主语、谓语和宾语,如:

I like English.

He ate a piece of cake.

3、主谓双宾型

即语句包括了主语、谓语、直接宾语和直接宾语。如:

Her mother bought her a present.

I will give you my notebook.

4、主系表型

即语句包括主语、系动词和表语。如:

They are our teachers.

She looks very tired.

5、主谓宾补型

即语句包括主语、谓语、宾语和补语。如:

We elected him monitor of our class.

I found the room empty.

(二)第25课

本课学习的是并排句的用法,首要学习并排连词的用法。

1、简略并排连词

是指单个词语的并排连词,首要包括:and, but, for, while, so, yet, or等。如:

He likes football, while I prefer basketball.

They went to the station, but the train had left.

She got up early, so she caught the first morning bus.

2、复兼并排连词

是指成对运用的几组并排连词,即:

both ... and ... (两者都)

either ... or ... (或许/要么...,或许/要么...)

neither ... nor ... (既不...,也不...)

not only ... but also ... 或 not only ... but ... as well (不但...,而且...)

如:

He can both speak and write in English.

You can either stay here or go there with her this afternoon.

Neither he nor I am from France.

Things here are not only inexpensive but also of good quality.

【留心】

当这些复兼并排连词引导并排主语时,谓语的单复数要遵从就近原则,别离由and、or、nor和but also后的主语的单复数来抉择的。

(三)第49课

本课偏重学习的是复合句的用法,即从句的用法。英语的从句首要分为名词性从句、定语从句和状语从句。

名词性从句分为主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。其间,宾语从句是新二的首要学习内容,而且以直接引语的学习为主。如:

He says to me, 'I will visit you next week.'

He tells me that he will visit me next week.

Jim said to Jane, 'Mike has been to your school twice.'

Jim told Jane that Mike had been to her school twice.

再比方:

Lily said to Jack, 'Are you reading in our library now?'

Lily asked Jack if/whether he was reading in their library then.

Jason said to Mary, 'What did you say to my sister yesterday?'

Jason asked Mary what she had said to his siter the day before.

又比方:

The girl said to her brother, 'Don't touch my glass.'

The girl told/asked her brother not to touch her glass.

定语从句分为限制性定语从句和非限制性定语从句。限制性定语从句对先行词起着润饰限制的作用,表特指,而非限制性定语从句对先行词起着弥补阐明作用,会用逗号与先行词离隔。如:

限制性定语从句:He is the man who / that / whom I am looking for.

非限制性定语从句:My father, who is a doctor, likes playing football very much.

状语从句共分为九大类,即时刻、地址、缘由、成果、意图、比照、条件、方法和让步状语从句。如:

时刻:When he comes, tell him the news at once.

地址:I will go where she goes.

缘由:I was late for school because I worked into the night yesterday.

成果:She is so young that she cannot join the club.

再比方:

意图:Jerry decides to get up early tomorrow so that she can catch the first train.

比照:Light travels much faster than sound.

条件:If you want to leave her a message, I can do it for you.

方法:I cooked the fish as my mom had told me.

让步:Although he is in his nineties, he is still in good health.
