When love beckons to you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep.And when his wings enfold you, yield to him,though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.And when he speaks to you, believe in him,though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,so shall he descend to our roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.But if, in your fear, you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter,and weep, but not all of your tears.Love gives naught but it self and takes naught but from itself.Love possesses not, nor would it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.But if you love and must have desires, let these be your desires:To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.To know the pain of too much tenderness.To be wounded by your own understanding of love;And to bleed willingly and joyfully.To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;To return home at eventide with gratitude;And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

当爱呼喊你时，请跟从她，尽管爱的门道艰巨险峻。当爱的羽翼拥抱你时，请战胜他，尽管躲藏在其羽翼之下的剑可以会伤到你。当爱向你倾诉时，请信赖他，尽管他的声响可以打破你的幻想，就犹如冬风吹落花圃里一切的花瓣。爱会给你戴上桂冠，也会熬煎你。爱会助你打开，也会给你修枝。爱会上升到枝头，怜爱你在阳光下颤抖的嫩枝，也会下潜至根部，撼动你紧抓土壤的基础。可是，如果你在惧怕傍边只想寻求爱的安靖恬静与快活，那你就最佳包庇真实的自我，避开爱的训练，进入不分末侯的世界，在那儿你将欢笑，但并不是畅怀大笑，你将抽泣，但并不是尽情地哭。爱只将本身开支，也只获得本身。爱贫穷如洗，也不会为谁一切，因为爱自个就已自足。爱除完成自我别无他求。可是如果你爱而又不能不有所求，那就请盼望：将本身熔化并像飞跃的溪水一般向夜晚吟唱本身柔美的曲调。了然过量的和顺所带来的苦痛。被本身对爱的了解所风险；并甘心快活地哀思。在拂晓带着轻盈的心醒来并感谢又一个有家的日子；在午不时分复苏并冥想爱的心醉神迷;在傍晚怀着感恩之心回家；然后为心里所爱之人祷告，吟歌唱颂之歌，并带着恳求和歌声入眠。
